Cannot import Autotask product — no category mapped

What to do when Salesbuildr cannot import an Autotask product, service, or labor item because it has no mapped category.

What this error means

Error code: SB-AT-PRODUCT-000007

This error appears when Salesbuildr tries to create a new catalog product from Autotask, but that Autotask item does not have a Salesbuildr category to go into.

You may see a message like:

Cannot import an Autotask product without a mapped Salesbuildr category.

The recommended action on the error often includes the Autotask ID, for example: map the Autotask product with that ID to a Salesbuildr category, then retry.

Salesbuildr skips the item. It is not added to your catalog. This is not a temporary glitch — that specific Autotask item cannot be imported until it is mapped to a category.

The same error can appear for an Autotask product, service, or labor item. In every case, Salesbuildr needs a category before it will create the catalog entry.

Where you see it

You typically see this right after an Autotask import, or on the error card or dialog that Salesbuildr shows for a failed import.

The title is usually Cannot import Autotask product. No category mapped. The message names the Autotask item (and often its Autotask ID) that could not be imported.

You will not find a new product page for that item. Because the import never created it, there is nothing in the catalog to open or retry from a product record.

Items that were already in Salesbuildr and linked to Autotask can still receive updates even when category mapping is missing. This error only blocks new imports.

Why it happens

Every new Autotask item needs a Salesbuildr category before it can enter the catalog. Common reasons that mapping is missing:

  • The Autotask product’s category has not been mapped to a Salesbuildr category.

  • The Autotask product has no category in Autotask.

  • For a service, the Autotask billing code used for that service has not been mapped to a Salesbuildr category.

  • For labor, the Autotask role has no Salesbuildr category to land in.

Until that mapping exists, Salesbuildr will not create the catalog item. Retrying without a mapping will show the same error.

What you can do

Most people cannot fix this themselves. Mapping Autotask items to Salesbuildr categories is done in Autotask import settings, which only someone who manages your Salesbuildr workspace can change.

Ask whoever manages your workspace

  1. Copy the error code (SB-AT-PRODUCT-000007) and the Autotask ID shown on the error (if one is displayed).

  2. Ask an admin, or whoever manages Autotask import for your workspace, to map that Autotask item to a Salesbuildr category.

  3. After they confirm the mapping is in place, use Retry on the error if you see that button, or try the import again.

Do not keep retrying before the mapping is done — the import will fail the same way.

Keep working in the meantime

You can continue using products that are already in your Salesbuildr catalog, including on quotes. Only the Autotask item that failed to import is missing.

If you expected that Autotask item to appear in search, on a quote, or with stock from Autotask, it will not be available until the mapping is done and the import succeeds.

After the mapping is done

  1. Use Retry on the error if it is still on screen, or run the Autotask import again.

  2. Search the catalog for the item. It should appear once the import succeeds.

  3. If the error returns with the same Autotask ID, the mapping is still missing or incomplete — send that ID back to whoever manages your workspace.

When you need help

Contact Salesbuildr support if:

  • Your admin says the Autotask item is already mapped, but the error keeps returning.

  • You are not sure who manages Autotask import for your workspace.

  • You need the item for an urgent quote and cannot wait for the mapping.

Include the error code (SB-AT-PRODUCT-000007) and the Autotask ID from the error.
