ConnectWise data in Whitespace

Which ConnectWise agreement and addition fields appear in Whitespace, where service-code columns come from, and how product subcategories map to Salesbuildr categories.

Whitespace reads active Finance Agreements and their additions from ConnectWise Manage, then plots that coverage as a grid: customers as rows, service codes as columns. This article is for ConnectWise tenants. For how to use the grid itself — filters, notes, campaign export — see Whitespace & Upsell.

Note: Whitespace requires the whitespace feature and the Whitespace viewer permission. ConnectWise must be connected under Settings > Integrations > ConnectWise.

Where the service-code columns come from

In Whitespace the column headers are called service codes. For ConnectWise they are not Autotask-style billing codes and they are not agreement types.

They come from your ConnectWise product subcategories. In Manage, those are maintained under System > Setup Tables → Products / Subcategory (parent groups are Products / Category).

What you maintain in ConnectWiseWhat you see in Whitespace

Product parent category (the group above the subcategory)

Not used as a column. Shown only as a heading on the mapping page

Agreement type

New active subcategories from ConnectWise are added to the Columns list automatically. Stale ones drop off. Admins can drag columns into a shared order for everyone in the Reorder columns panel.

If two subcategories share the same name, Whitespace merges them into one column and shows a merge indicator.

How subcategories map to Salesbuildr categories

ConnectWise does not have a separate “billing code” object. The closest equivalent — and what Whitespace uses as a service code — is the catalog item’s subcategory.

Map each subcategory to a Salesbuildr product category so I want to sell can match your catalog products to the right column:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > ConnectWise > Categories.

  2. Open the Map categories tab.

  3. For each ConnectWise subcategory (the indented rows), choose a Salesbuildr category, or leave it Not mapped.

  4. Click Save. Use Import and map all categories if you want Salesbuildr to create matching categories and map them in one step.

MappingWhat it does in Whitespace

ConnectWise subcategory → Salesbuildr category

Lets I want to sell place a catalog product in that column, and turns the column header into a link to the Salesbuildr category

Not mapped

The subcategory can still appear as a column when an agreement addition uses it. Upsell matching for catalog products will not use that column

Map Root Category tab

Fallback used when sending products to ConnectWise. It does not create Whitespace columns

Map product terms tab

Maps ConnectWise billing cycles to Salesbuildr terms (monthly, yearly, and so on) so tile revenue is converted to a monthly amount

A Salesbuildr product participates in I want to sell and upsell tiles when its primary category is mapped from a ConnectWise subcategory on Map categories.

For service products, the product editor Admin tab also has Include in whitespace. When that is off, the imported service is left out of the matrix — green tiles, monthly revenue, and I want to sell — while remaining in the catalog.

What syncs from each agreement

Salesbuildr imports Finance Agreements whose status is Active, and only when the agreement’s company already exists in Salesbuildr (the company must have synced from ConnectWise). Manufacturer companies are not used as the customer on the row.

On the Contracts dialog (green tile → revenue, or the info popover → the revenue amount) each agreement card shows:

Agreements that have not reached their start date show IMPORTANT: This contract is not active yet.

The dialog also offers Create Renewal Quote, Add to existing quote, Renew All, and Update. Update re-imports that company’s agreements from ConnectWise. A scheduled import also refreshes all agreements about once an hour.

What syncs from each agreement addition

Each addition on an active agreement becomes a line on that card. Salesbuildr includes an addition when its effective date is today or earlier, and it is not past its cancelled date.

If the catalog item has not been imported, the description still appears with a warning icon (This service was not imported). Renewal quotes skip those lines.

Vendor (manufacturer) on the imported product is used on the Contract Items tab when you group by vendor. It is not shown on the tile itself.

ConnectWise invoice charges and Autotask-style service bundles are not imported from Manage, so those sections do not appear on a ConnectWise tenant.

What tiles and popovers show

Each cell is one customer × one ConnectWise subcategory.

Green tile — the customer has at least one included addition in that subcategory. The amount is monthly recurring revenue: each addition’s price (unit price × quantity) is divided by the agreement’s mapped billing term (monthly ÷ 1, quarterly ÷ 3, yearly ÷ 12, and so on). If the billing cycle is not mapped on Map product terms, Salesbuildr treats the amount as monthly, which can overstate yearly agreements.

The Monthly Revenue column on the left is the same calculation, summed across every subcategory for that customer.

Red dot / Underbilling — the addition’s unit price is below the catalog list price in ConnectWise. The popover badge reads Underbilling (This category contains underbilled services).

Info popover (the i on the tile) shows:

  • Customer name and subcategory name

  • Monthly revenue for that column (click it to open Contracts)

  • Underbilling when it applies

  • An open quote in that category, if one exists

  • Create quote / Create opportunity when you are using I want to sell

  • Tile notes (Add note)

Agreements that match the column are marked Relevant in the Contracts dialog.

Blue / yellow tiles, Best upsell badges, and I want to sell are catalog-driven. They use the subcategory ↔ Salesbuildr category mapping above, not extra ConnectWise fields. See Whitespace & Upsell.

Users and Devices columns are not imported from agreements. They follow Settings > Platform > Miscellaneous → Users and devices calculation strategy. See Users & Devices.

What does not appear

These ConnectWise records are skipped or unused in Whitespace:

  • Agreements that are not Active

  • Additions that have not reached their effective date, or whose cancelled date has passed

  • Agreements whose company has not synced to Salesbuildr

  • Imported service products with Include in whitespace turned off

  • ConnectWise invoice charges and Autotask service bundles
