Send and Mark as sent missing after a ConnectWise quote is approved

Why Send and Mark as sent disappear on every quote on a ConnectWise opportunity after one quote is approved, and how to start a new proposal.

After one quote on a ConnectWise opportunity is approved, Send and Mark as sent disappear on every quote on that opportunity β€” including a new draft. Salesbuildr does not show an error. The buttons are simply gone.

This happens only with ConnectWise. If you use Autotask, HaloPSA, or another integration, you can still send another quote on the same opportunity.

Why the buttons disappear

On ConnectWise, Salesbuildr treats that opportunity as already won once a quote on it has been approved. It then hides send actions on all quotes linked to that opportunity, so a second proposal cannot go out on the same deal.

The new quote can look like a normal Draft. The missing buttons are not a problem with that draft β€” they are locked because the opportunity already has an approved quote.

Deleting the approved quote does not restore the buttons

Deleting the approved quote does not bring Send or Mark as sent back. The opportunity stays locked.

These steps also do not restore the buttons:

  • Creating another quote on the same opportunity
  • Using Make a copy and turning Quick quote off so the copy stays on the original opportunity
  • Changing the opportunity stage in ConnectWise

There is no in-product way to unlock send on that same opportunity.

How to send a new proposal

Start on a new opportunity.

Create a new opportunity

  1. Go to Opportunities and create a new opportunity for the same company and contact.
  2. Open that opportunity and create the replacement quote β€” or start from New quote and attach it to the new opportunity.

The new opportunity syncs to ConnectWise as a new opportunity. Send and Mark as sent appear because nothing on it has been approved yet.

Or use Make a copy with Quick quote on

  1. Open the draft (or the original quote, if it is still listed).
  2. Click Make a copy.
  3. Leave Quick quote on.
  4. Pick the company and contact, then create the copy.

Quick quote creates a new opportunity from the company and contact you choose. Send and Mark as sent appear on the copy.

If you turn Quick quote off and select the original opportunity, the copy is locked the same way.

Prevent this with Retract

If you notice a mistake while the quote is still waiting for a decision β€” Sent or Sent (internal) β€” click Retract. The quote returns to Draft, and you can fix it and send it again on the same opportunity.

Retract is not available after the quote is Approved. That is why people delete the quote and start again β€” and then find Send missing.

For the retract steps, see Quote Editor.
