Before Session 2 – Products & Categories

After your first onboarding call, complete these tasks to prepare your Salesbuildr environment. Each task includes a short video walkthrough and links to the relevant help articles for reference.

Objective

Prepare your quoting environment so we can focus entirely on building and managing your product catalog next session.

Required Tasks

1. Create a Practice Quote

Optional Refresher: Creating a Basic Quote (2-Minute Walkthrough)

Task:

  • Create a basic hardware quote — watch the quick refresher if you need a reminder of the basic steps

  • Add 1–2 products

  • Leave it in Draft (do not send)

2. Video 1 – Default Email Settings

Watch: Default Email Settings for Sending Quotes (Loom)

In this video, you will learn:

  • The difference between shared mailbox vs individual sending

  • How to set your default sending address

  • When to use each option

Decision Required:

  • Use shared mailbox (all quotes sent from one address)

  • Send from the individual quote creator's email

Configure your chosen option as the default.

3. Video 2 – Email Signature Setup

In this video, you will learn:

  • How to create one global default signature

  • How to use variables so it works for all users

Action Required:

  • Create your default email signature

  • Ensure variables are used for name, title, phone, etc.

4. Video 3 – External Notification Templates

Watch: External Notification Templates Overview (Loom)

In this video, you will learn:

  • What external (customer-facing) notification templates are

  • Where to review them

  • When adjustments are appropriate

Action Required:

  • Review your customer-facing templates

  • Adjust wording only if necessary

  • Do not over-customize at this stage

5. Video 4 – Tax Settings Overview

In this video, you will learn:

  • How taxes are handled in Salesbuildr

  • The difference between displaying taxes vs relying on PSA-calculated taxes

  • When each option is appropriate

Decision Required:

  • Do not display taxes on quotes

  • Display PSA-calculated taxes in Salesbuildr

Configure your chosen option as the default.

6. Video 5 – Quote Default Settings

Watch: Quote Default Settings Explained (Loom)

In this video, you will learn:

  • What quote defaults control

  • Why setting them correctly saves time later

  • Which three settings matter most

Action Required:

Configure the following defaults:

  • Payment terms

  • Quote expiration timeframe

  • Expiry reminder timing

Set these as your standard operating defaults.

Definition of Ready for Session 2

You should have:

  • A draft quote created

  • Email defaults configured

  • Tax decision finalized

  • Quote defaults saved
