HTML content, variables, languages, and starter templates

Use the optional HTML Content widget and Source code button, insert variables and custom fields without writing code, see which languages Salesbuildr supports, and what templates a new account starts with.

This article covers four things people ask about when they first open the template editor: how to add raw HTML, how to personalize text without writing code, which languages you can send quotes in, and which quote, widget, and email templates Salesbuildr creates for a new account.

For template strategy, locking widgets, and settings, see Quote Templates. For localization profiles and auto-translate steps, see Localization and language translations.

Add an HTML Content widget

HTML Content is an optional widget. The starter quote template does not include one β€” you add it when you want a block that is HTML from the start, instead of formatted text.

  1. Go to Quotes > Templates and open a template (or open a draft quote).
  2. In the left-hand outline, click the + button above or below a widget.
  3. In the Insert Quote Widget dialog, select HTML Content.
  4. Click Insert.

The widget has two fields:

  • Title β€” Optional heading shown above the block.
  • HTML Content β€” The markup for the block. Placeholder text reads Enter your HTML content here...

A Preview appears under the HTML box so you can see the rendered markup. That preview shows the HTML as you typed it β€” company names and other variables fill in later, on the live quote, in presentation view, and on the PDF.

You can also create a reusable HTML Content widget at Quotes > Widget templates (choose the HTML Content type when you create the template) and insert it the same way.

Note: Not every HTML tag or style is supported. Build the block in a test quote and check presentation view and the PDF before you use it with customers.

Use the Source code button

Most quote text β€” Content & Products widgets, cover pages, and email templates β€” uses the rich-text editor (bold, lists, tables, images).

That editor includes a Source code button, usually at the right end of the toolbar (a </> icon). You can also open it from the editor View or Tools menu.

  1. Click into the formatted text.
  2. Click Source code.
  3. Edit the HTML, then close the source view to return to the formatted editor.

Use Source code when you already have a formatted block and need to adjust the underlying HTML (a table layout, a link, or spacing). Use the HTML Content widget when the whole block should stay as HTML.

The HTML Content widget does not have a Source code button β€” it already shows the HTML in a text area.

Insert variables and custom fields without writing code

You do not need to type merge-field syntax. Every content widget, HTML Content widget, cover page, and email template has an Available template variables list.

  1. Select the widget (or open the email / cover editor).
  2. Open Available template variables. On a quote or quote template, this is in the right-hand Edit tab when a widget is selected.
  3. Browse the groups (company, contact, owner, quote, servicing branch, and others).
  4. Click the copy icon next to a field. Salesbuildr copies the field and confirms it.
  5. Paste into the title, the HTML box, or the rich-text editor.

The list shows a sample value next to each field so you can see what it will become on a real quote.

Custom fields

Custom fields (data points) appear in the same list once you have defined them at Settings > Custom Fields and saved values on the company or opportunity:

  • Company custom fields appear under the company group in quote, widget, and cover editors.
  • Answers from a Custom Form widget appear under the quote group after you add that form to the template.
  • Email templates list company and opportunity custom fields in that template’s variables panel.

Copy and paste them the same way as built-in fields. You do not need to remember the field name.

Dates, images, and optional text

The variables list also offers ready-made snippets you can copy:

  • Dates β€” Copy the date snippet, then (optionally) open the help icon to pick a format such as a long date or dd-mm-yyyy.
  • Images β€” Copy the image snippet for a logo, avatar, or signature.
  • Only if a value exists β€” The examples at the bottom of the panel let you copy a snippet that shows text only when a value is present, or that lists line items.

Line-item snippets can include quantity, title, and description. They do not include prices, SKUs, or tax. Use a Content & Products widget when the customer needs a priced table.

What you will see while editing

  • In the editor, pasted fields stay as tokens (for example the company name field) until the quote is mapped for display.
  • The HTML Content Preview and the manage-widget preview do not replace those tokens.
  • The live quote, presentation view, and PDF show the real values.
  • If a field is written incorrectly, the quote can show an inline processing error instead of the value. Copy from the list instead of editing the token by hand.

Which languages are supported

Salesbuildr has two language settings. They are independent.

Quote language (localization and translation)

Create a localization profile at Settings > Quotes > Localizations, then assign it on a quote template or switch it on a single quote. The Language dropdown includes:

LanguageRegion
EnglishUnited States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand
DutchNetherlands, Belgium
FrenchFrance, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland
GermanGermany, Switzerland
DanishDenmark
ItalianItaly, Switzerland
SwedishSweden
PortugueseBrazil
SpanishMexico

Each profile also lets you override customer-facing labels (buttons, headings, and field names). Translate the quote content (and the Click here to translate links on an email template) translate the text you wrote β€” widget copy, product names, and email subject/body β€” while leaving variables unchanged. Always review machine translation before you send.

Keeping widget text in more than one language on the same template requires the multilanguage quotes feature on your account. If you do not see a language picker on the widget, ask your Salesbuildr contact to confirm it is enabled.

A new US account starts with an English localization. Accounts created for other countries also start with a Nederlands localization. You can add any of the languages above at any time.

App language (menus and buttons)

The Salesbuildr interface (navigation, settings, editor chrome) can be shown in English (US), English (GB), or Dutch. Administrators choose which of those are available at Settings > Platform > Miscellaneous > Available system languages. English (US) is always available. This does not change the language of the quote you send β€” that comes from the localization profile.

What a new account includes

These items are created when you sign up for Salesbuildr. You can edit, copy, or replace all of them.

Quote template

Quotes > Templates starts with one template named STANDARD TEMPLATE, marked as the default. New quotes use it until you pick another template or set a different default.

It includes, in this order:

  1. An intro Content & Products block with a Quote Prepared For heading β€” customer and owner details, a short letter, and variables for company, contact, and owner.
  2. A Financial summary (grand total and total details on; no extra summary table).
  3. A Signature and Approval totals block.
  4. A Terms and Conditions block with starter validity, payment, delivery, warranty, returns, and liability wording. Replace this with your own terms.

The template also shows product images and totals, and turns on Recipient can adjust quantities. Change those in the template settings tab (cog icon).

Widget template

Quotes > Widget templates starts with Standard intro β€” a reusable intro letter (customer address, greeting, and owner sign-off) that you can insert into any quote or quote template.

Email templates

Settings > Email > Templates > Notifications already lists the built-in messages Salesbuildr sends. You do not create these from scratch; open one to change the subject, body, CC/BCC, or PDF attachment. They are grouped as:

  • Send notification to customer to request e-mail verification
  • Send login invitation to customer
  • Send login invitation to internal MSP user

The Quotes and Marketing Email Templates tabs start empty β€” those are custom templates you add when you want a branded approval email or a marketing message. See Email.

A new account does not include a cover page. Create one at Quotes > Cover Pages and link it on the quote template when you want a branded first page.

If the template marketplace is enabled for your account, you can also copy extra quote and widget templates from Quotes > Templates > Marketplace.
