Product comparison lets users select up to 3 products within the same category and view them side-by-side. The comparison table shows vendor information, feature group checkmarks, custom data points, and product specifications.

Adding products to compare

From the product catalog or search results, click the Compare button on a product card. The product is added to a comparison slot for its category.

  • Each category has 3 comparison slots
  • Comparison selections are stored locally in your browser
  • If all 3 slots are full, a dialog appears asking you to select which product to replace or clear all slots

Navigating to the comparison page

Once products are selected for comparison, click the Compare button (which changes from "Add to Compare" to "Go to Compare") to open the comparison page.

You can also add more products directly from the comparison page using the search bar that appears when fewer than 3 products are selected.

The comparison table

The comparison page displays a multi-column table with one column per selected product. The table includes the following sections:

Product overview

RowDescription
Product cardFull product card for each product
Remove"Remove from comparison" button to free the slot
VendorVendor company name (linked to the company page)
Product nameProduct name (linked to the product detail page)
VerifiedCheckmark if the vendor is verified

Feature groups

Feature groups are defined at the category level (see Categories). Each feature group displays as a section with:

  • A group header (e.g., "Technical Specs", "Compatibility")
  • Individual features as rows, with a checkmark for each product that has that feature

Features come from the product's category assignment — when a product is added to a category, the user selects which features from that category's feature groups apply.

Custom data points

Two sections of custom fields are displayed:

  • Vendor data points — Custom field values from the product's vendor company, grouped by data point group
  • Product data points — Custom field values from the product itself, grouped by data point group

Specifications

Product specifications are displayed in sections with title and value columns, allowing technical comparison across products.

Use cases

  • Pre-sales evaluation — Help customers compare competing products before adding one to a quote
  • Vendor assessment — Compare similar products from different vendors using verified status and vendor data points
  • Feature gap analysis — Use feature group checkmarks to identify which products meet specific requirements
