Grid view for quote line items
Edit quote products in a spreadsheet-style table: inline cells, bulk actions, add products, and column controls. Grid view is rolling out — here's how to open it and what you can do.

Grid view (also called spreadsheet view) is a table of every product line on a quote. Use it when you want to change many quantities, prices, or names quickly — without opening each line in the quote editor one at a time.
It is the same quote and the same products. Grid view is a faster way to work the lines; the proposal your customer sees is still the quote editor layout.
What you can do
From Grid view you can:
See every line across product-table sections (and churn sections) in one table
Edit cells inline — name, description, quantity, price, cost, markup, term, and more
Add products from your catalog
Select many lines and Edit field…, Move to section, or Delete
Show or hide columns, and keep that choice for next time
Drag lines to reorder them within a section
Changes stay unsaved until you click Save. Line totals and quote totals then show Pending save until that save finishes.
Open Grid view
Open a live quote in the quote editor (not a quote template).
In the left panel, click Grid view (table icon) at the top, above the page outline.
The grid fills the page, with the quote title at the top. Use the back arrow to return to the editor.
Grid view is only on live quotes. You will not see it on quote templates, print, or the customer-facing proposal.
Why you might not see Grid view yet
Grid view is rolling out and is off by default. If there is no Grid view button in the left panel:
It has not been enabled for your workspace yet — ask your Customer Success manager, or email support@salesbuildr.com.
You are in a quote template, not a quote.
The left panel is collapsed — open it with the sidenav toggle, then look at the top.
The grid layout
Each section is a product table from the quote (the same widgets you arrange in the editor). A section header shows its title, how many items it contains, and a lock icon if the section is locked.
Collapse or expand a section with the caret next to its title.
The Name column stays pinned on the left as you scroll sideways.
A footer shows Quantity, Total, Discount (when the quote has one), and Grand Total.
Rows for add-ons and bundle items sit indented under their parent product.
The toolbar shows Product items and a product count, plus Add products, Columns, and Save. While you have unsaved work, a count of unsaved lines appears next to those buttons.
Edit a cell
Click an editable cell (or press Enter or F2 when the cell is focused). Type the new value, then press Enter or Tab, or click away, to keep it. Press Escape to cancel.
You can edit the same fields you can edit on a line in the quote editor, including:
Name and description
Quantity
Cost, price, original price, and markup
Term
Special bid number
Setup price and setup cost
Some columns are display only, matching the line-item dialog: Discount, Tax %, Unit, Type, MPN, Category, Availability, Pricing book, and the calculated totals (Price total, Cost total, Margin, Profit). Changing quantity, cost, or price does not rewrite the line total on screen until you save — those cells show Pending save with an hourglass instead of a stale figure.
Quote managers can also change the Distributor on a draft line from the grid (a product-availability dialog), the same way they can in the editor.
Edits follow the same permissions as the quote editor. After a quote is sent, you generally need to retract it before changing lines. If your role cannot see cost in the editor, Cost, Cost total, Markup, Margin, Profit, and Setup cost stay hidden here too.
To reorder lines, drag the handle at the left of a row. Add-ons and bundle items stay with their parent.
Add products
Use Add products in the toolbar, or the + on a section header.
The toolbar button opens the product picker and places each product in the section that matches its category (Salesbuildr can create a section if the quote does not have one yet).
A section + adds into that section.
You cannot add into a locked section, a choice-selection section (where the customer picks from options), or a churn section.
Added rows are staged. They appear in the grid immediately and are written to the quote only when you click Save. If the quote has no products yet, the empty state invites you to add some the same way.
Select lines and use bulk actions
Tick the checkbox on a row to select it. A bar appears with the selected count and:
Edit field… — apply one field and value to every selected line
Move to section — move selected top-level products into another product-table section
Delete — remove the selected lines (you confirm first)
Deselect — clear the selection
Use the checkbox in the Name header to select every selectable top-level line on the quote, or the checkbox on a section header to select that section only.
Bulk changes are staged like cell edits. They apply when you Save. If some selected rows cannot take the action, Salesbuildr still applies it to the rest and tells you how many were skipped and why (for example a locked section, or a field that is not editable on that line).
How selection works with add-ons and bundles
Selection is for your bulk actions. It is not the customer's optional-item or choice-group tick on the proposal.
Selecting a parent product covers its add-ons and bundle items. You cannot also tick those children — they travel with the parent. The tooltip explains: add-ons and bundle items are selected with their line, not alongside it.
Selecting an add-on or bundle item on its own limits the selection to that parent's children. You cannot mix that selection with unrelated lines.
Move to section applies to top-level products only. Add-ons and bundle items move with their parent; they cannot change section by themselves.
Delete on a parent also removes the add-ons and bundle items under it. Required add-ons can be removed or edited only by a quote manager.
After a delete is staged, the rows hide. Use Restore deleted lines in the toolbar if you need them back before you save.
Choose which columns you see
Click Columns. Tick the fields you want, or use Select all / Deselect all, then Done.
Your column set is remembered in this browser for your user. It does not change what your customer sees on the proposal.
Columns you can show include name, description, type, quantity, discount, cost, price, original price, MSRP, tax %, margin, cost total, price total, markup, profit, MPN, supplier, distributor, category, availability, unit, term, pricing book, special bid, setup price, and setup cost.
Import from CSV or Excel
Importing a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) into Grid view is coming soon. Today, add products with Add products, or use the catalog product import and special-bid import flows outside Grid view.
Save, and leaving with unsaved work
Click Save to write every staged add, edit, move, reorder, and delete in one step. Until then, the quote in the editor still has the last saved lines.
If a save cannot complete, nothing from that save is applied — try again, or save fewer lines at once. Very large batches (especially deletes that include many add-ons and bundle items) may need to be saved in parts.
If you leave Grid view with unsaved work, Salesbuildr asks what to do:
Stay here — keep editing
Discard — drop the staged changes
Save — write them, then leave
